Did You Miss These?

I recently returned to reading a book I had delighted in a couple years ago. I was also introduced to a musical artist recently who for whatever reason I completely missed when they first released their music. It struck me that surely many people are not familiar with some music, books and movies which I’m glad I didn’t miss. So I thought I’d just quickly list some things I’m glad I didn’t miss in hopes that maybe you missed it but can now be introduced to the possibility of enjoying and being influenced by these works.

1. Dinner with a Perfect Stranger

This is quite possibly the first book I’d hand to someone who has some questions about Jesus. It’s an easy and fun read but deals with many of the big questions some people hold onto before trusting in Jesus as their Savior.

2. Sound of Melodies - Leeland

I’m not sure how it happened, but I totally missed out on Leeland when they first released this album. These words were written primarily by a young teenager. The lyrics in many of these songs may be used by the Lord to stir your soul. Several of the songs have moved me deeply; Carried To The Table has recently moved me when considering my unworthiness in light of our living Savior.

3. Amazing Grace

I know many people have seen this movie, but I’ve been surprised how many Christians haven’t. It definitely isn’t the greatest movie ever, but it is a good movie of a man who was used greatly by God. The life of William Wilberforce should be familiar to every believer due to the important role he played in history. Interestingly, he was used greatly but he physically suffered greatly in the midst.

Well, that’s just a quick few things I’m glad I didn’t miss. Feel free to post in the comments those things you’re glad you didn’t miss.

  1. Hmmm… We really connected with Amazing Grace. It’s the type of story that might relevant in this day and age. How many of us would spend 20+ years of our life on one goal? Even if it robs us of our health and ‘personal happiness’ most of that time?

We also just watched Luther, and it was amazing. I hope it was factually as accurate as they could make it.

I’d also like to hear more about “Dinner with a Perfect Stranger”. Of course, I’d rather listen to it than have to read the pages right now. :)
