Promising Stem Cell News

For several years there has been a big debate regarding the use of embryonic stem cells. Those who fear the Lord have been saying, “Yes, embryonic stem cells could potentially save people’s lives, but every life is made in the hands of God.” Every life should be valued, so we must find another way to develop stem cells without destroying a human life.
Just a few months ago I was having this conversation with my uncle. He was telling me about some people he loved very much who would benefit from embryonic stem cells. He asked me how I could just sit there and let them die without allowing a treatment which might save their lives. I told him that I hope these loved ones get better, but I believe the Lord will provide another scientific solution which does not kill embryos.
Well, it looks like the Lord has shown two teams of scientists how to convert simple human skin cells into cells which look and act like embryonic stem cells:
Researchers in Wisconsin and Japan have turned ordinary human skin cells into what are effectively embryonic stem cells without using embryos or women’s eggs — the two hitherto essential ingredients that have embroiled the medically promising field in a long political and ethical debate (link to article).
Human skin cells are so plentiful and pose no ethical dilemmas. This news story should be a great encouragement to those who fear the Lord. If we do what is right, even though it might not make total sense at the time, in the long run it will always be the best action. Many people are realizing that today!
