Amazing Grace (Movie)

My wife and I have become more and more mindful concerning the movies we watch. Paul’s admonition in the book of Philippians is frequently overlooked when people are getting movies from netflix or blockbuster…
“Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.” (Philippians 4:8)
On Wednesday, Amazing Grace, the story of William Wilberforce comes out on DVD. I recommend if you are looking to watch a movie this weekend, that you grab this one. It’s good to remember and learn from men like William Wilberforce and John Newton. Your heart will be stirred and hopefully all of us will be better off by watching this powerful film. Most of us are not surrounded by something like slavery, as Wilberforce was, but there are many social injustices around us which we should work to change. When Christ is the center of our lives, we should seek to leave an imprint of Him and His love to all those around.

I can’t find the words to adequately express how much I loved this movie. It is so refreshing to see a film in which the name of God is lifted up, instead of being blasphemed. I was appalled by the fact that the Academy overlooked this incredible movie. The fact that it wasn’t even nominated for an award is shameful.
